"Dover Beach" Poem Response.

Bryce Conner “Dover Beach” Poem response

When Mrs. Phelps and Mr. Bowles’ left after hearing the poem Montag read them, they both went to there separate ways back home, when they walked back home, I imagined them going through thoughts in their minds asking themselves if the society they live in today is the way things should actually be like. Both Mrs. Bowles’ and Mrs. Phelps are very static characters, mostly everyone is because of the society restrictions with books, but anyways after Montag read the poem, “Dover Beach” I think both Mrs. Bowles’ and Mrs. Phelps became dynamic characters because I think the poem really opened their eyes to how society really is.

Later in this novel, I think we will see a slow transition of character change between Mrs. Bowles’ and Mrs. Phelps because right after they left they seemed really impacted even in tears because of this eye opening poem Montag read. After both of these characters get home, I imagine them just laying down in their beds with their eyes wide open thinking and wondering about the things wrong with their society, then when they finally start to realize all the corruptions among them, I think they might take some sort of small action, and or, report to Montag about how its affected them.

After Mrs. Phelps and Mrs. Bowles’ are done contemplating about the wrongs in their society I think the actions they might take are maybe stealing a book out of curiosity so they can read and see what its like to know new stuff. I think they might also ‘team up’ with Montag and maybe read some of his books when he builds a trust bond with them, and to an extant they could even riot the government, you never know how strong they actually feel about it. All these actions I have predicted could maybe happen and maybe even other things I haven’t predicted could happen, were just going to have to wait and see.
